It’s been a wild ride! This year has been filled with amazing opportunities and I feel Through The Roof hitting landmarks I never expected.
Thanks to everyone who turned up along the way, supporting us in the small booths, joining in the collabs, or just liking and sharing our posts. It means a lot, and I was very encouraged every single time. If you’ve met me IRL, you know I really mean it! 🙂
Ok, enough emo nemo, here’s a recap of the year:
Visiting Places
At the start of 2024, we went to Chiang Rai to visit TonCedar and the Thailand Biennale. Later in May, we went to KL Illustration Fair 2024. A few weeks later, we were wheels up again for Melbourne Design Week, where we went to see Geelong Creatives, Sticky Institute, and Tree Paper Gallery, among the other exhibitions.
Locally
There were so many events going on this year. We participated in two: Open Fields Marketplace in March, and SG Art Book Fair!
Urban Sketchers Singapore was our constant haunt to just draw, and to meet new people. The staples of our year have become the Illustration fair, SG Art Week, and SG Design Week.
Our Biggest Change
RISO Printers!! We really want to provide a means for young creatives to get started, and in a few other countries, RISO printing can be an affordable means of printing at mass quantity. Getting our machines and running our RISO printing workshops meant that we could share this resource with young creatives and encourage them to join a collab, or to print their work as well!
The workshops at LASALLE brought this idea to reality, and meeting such a wide range of students and alumni alike was awesome.
Plans for 2025?
RISO Workshops and Collab groups will be our main programmes for 2025. We’ll definitely be applying for SGABF again, and hopefully getting more collab groups to showcase their work! Other smaller fairs will definitely come into the picture, but most probably with MAD Market.
We will also be staying local most of the year, for our family. If you follow me personally, you know that Clarice and I have a baby on the way! We’ll be out for a while but more on that in the coming months.
Thanks to everyone for the awesome year, and I am looking ahead for 2025!
